In the webinar series of AKGEC-FRONIUS AWTRC, a new session was added on “FUTURE OF WELDING: Journey Towards Industry 4.0”. The objective of this webinar was to deliberate on the evolution of welding processes, technology and equipment while highlighting the significant advancements / future trends with respect to Industry 4.0. The Webinar was organized on 16th May 2020 by AKGEC-Fronius, Advance Welding Technology & Research Centre. The webinar witnessed the participation from premier engineering institutes, industries in India as well as some overseas Institutes. More than 1000 participants with different educational background attended the webinar. The Webinar was conducted through Google meet platform and was presented by Mr. Som Ashutosh, AGM-QA&A. More than 60 industries and 250+ institutes attended the webinar


5th International Congress (IC-2020) on “Advanced Welding Technology & Quality Systems for Developing Economies” was organized during 6th -8th Feb’ 2020 at Mumbai by the International Institute of Welding and hosted by The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW India).It was attended by more than 350 national and International Delegates representing various Industries related to welding & allied fields, academic & research institutions and National / International welding Associations & Professional Bodies. Mr. Douglas Luciani, President, International Institute of Welding inaugurated the program. The Chief Guest was Shri P. Mahusudan, CMD, AP High Grade Steels Ltd, Vijaywada. To encourage young professionals to join the welding domain and promote skilling programs in welding, a separate session on Welding Skills was conducted during the congress.

Concurrently WELDINDIA 2020 – a three day exhibition held during 7th – 9th Feb 2020 at CIDCO Exhibition centre, Vashi, New Mumbai. More than 100 companies from Metallurgy, Material Testing & NDT, specially Welding, Fabricating & allied products industries showcased their latest development and professional branding in the Indian as well as international market, during WELDINDIA 2020.

AKGEC-FRONIUS Advance Welding Technology & Research Centre, Ghaziabad participated in the Congress as one of its sponsors and exhibited its training, research and consultancy facilities under AKGEC Skills Foundation in the WELD INDIA 2020 Exhibition.


The Indian Institute of Welding, National Skill Competition for Best of Best Welder (Northern Region) was organized at AKGEC Skills Foundation, Ghaziabad on 6th & 7th November 2019. The event was sponsored by M/s Voestalpine Bohler.

Total of 22 welders in four categories from reputed fabrication, welding, manufacturing companies such as Honda Cars (Tapukara plant), ISGEC Yamunanagar, DEE Piping System, Palwal, Youngmen India, Micro Precision Product Pvt. Ltd., etc participated in the competition.


SM India Welds Consultancy Pvt. Limited is a Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Govt. of India recognized StartUp that is working to make Technology adoption easy. It has created an online platform “Indiawelds” to build a systematic and continuous support system to the welding and manufacturing industry for the enhancement of the welding and manufacturing sector.

SMICPL had organized a one day conference on Creating Sustainable Welding Excellence through Industry-Academia Synergy on 21st November 2019 at Le Meridien Gurugram. AWTRC have participated in this event as a “Skilling Partners”. More than 150 delegates from various units of Indian Railways, NTPC, RDSO, ISGEC, L&T Panasonic, ADOR Welding, ESAB and many more welding and allied industries have participated in the conference.


AKGEC-Fronius (Advance Welding Technology & Research Centre) organized Train the Trainer Program on Advance Welding Technology for Engineers/Supervisors of Carriage and Wagon Repair Workshop, Northern Railway, Jagadhri. Total 08 participants of the ranks from Senior Section Engineers, Junior Engineers and Trainers, attended this fully residential program from 6th to 11th Jan 2020. During the program, Hands-on sessions were conducted on SMAW and GMAW welding processes along with guest lectures by Industry experts. Candidates were also trained to implement good welding practices and industrial safety measures in workshop environment. On completion, certificates were awarded to the candidates by Prof. Ashiv Shah, COO in presence of Mr. Ashish Apte, Segment Manager, Fronius India Ltd during valedictory session.
